Quick Easy Sauce for Pasta
This is a very easy sauce that is very cheap to make and the whole meal including prep time takes 20 to 30 minutes and serves 4 easily.
Ingredients
500gm frozen mince
1 large or 2 small onions
2 tins of tomatoes
1 beef stock cube
3/4 tbls sugar
1 tsp dried oregano or basil
2 tbls tomato puree
1. Gently fry mince in a saucepan
2. Chop and add the onion to the mince and fry until the mince is lightly browned. Do not cook the mince fully at this stage or the texture of the meat in the sauce becomes gritty.
3. Crumble in stock cube this flavours the meat and no extra salt is needed.
4. Add both tins of tomatoes, tomato puree herbs and sugar and allow to cook vigously for a few minutes then put lid on pan stirring occasionally and simmer for fifteen minutes.
That’s it, a simple sauce so easy that with written instructions even my husband can make it. It freezes very well too and works well with spaghetti or you can add to cooked pasta cover with cheese and bake for 10 min in a moderate oven. Better yet cooking this will probably cost less than one frozen ready meal and lets face it if my husband can cook it, this recipe is idiot proof.
